This book uses alot of acronyms, some timessages with out saying what the acronym is first. There are illustrations, however, when the figure is mentioned often. It is on the next page. This book does give good real life examples of diseases, however isn't very fluid from topic to topic. You have to read the whole book to really appreciate the lay out. It's a good resource, but not the easiest book to teach from.

David Coady is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Tasmania, Australia. He has published on many topics in applied epistemology, including expertise, conspiracy theory, rumor, and the blogosphere. Wonderful book; wealth of ecological data & insight

This is a terrific book with a lot of appeal not only to people interested in pines, but to a wide audience of ecologists, land managers, foresters and graduate students in ecology. There are 22 chapters by authors from 4 continents, with close to 3000 references. The book offers a wealth of insight into the effects of humans, fire, evolution and systematics of pines, reproduction and life histories, pines and invasive ecology and more. It may be too expensive for many readers, but get your library to buy a copy, at least. J. Gurevitch, Associate Professor of Ecology and Evolution, State Univ. of NY at Stony Brook.

Great book, great labs, bad website.

Don't buy it used or rent it. You will need the digital lab access that comes with a new copy to get hands-on experience. The book is very well written and easy to follow. The website that offers the labs is fantastic, when it is working. I am currently in crunch time at the end of my semester with a semester project due (which needs the labs) and 2 labs to complete. The website hasn't worked in nearly a full week. At first it was just the programs I need now the entire website is down with no message about when it will come back online (if it ever does).

An excellent overview of the field!

This this an indispensible reference guide that covers pretty much every facet of computer forensics, and does so in an engaging way that made me even more interested in the subject as I was reading it.

Most impressive is Easttom's ability to pack so much detailed information and advice into three hundred pages. He covers all the terminology, as well as the techniques used by hackers and criminals to conceal data, and the techniques used by forensics professionals to recover it. He discusses proper procedures for collecting evidence and preserving it for use in official investigations. He also provides links and brief tutorials on software tools for recovering data from Windows/Linux/Mac computers, as well as mobile devices.

This book can easily be applicable to general students and enthusiasts of computer science (not just the "forensics" field), since it covers such a considerable breadth of information. Professionals in all subspecialties of computing would do well to become familiar with modern forensics techniques, and this book is an excellent starting point.
