I didn't know what to think. He wanted me to "entertain" a guest, and by the sounds of it, he meant sexually. He barely knew me. Did he assume I'd do anything for money? What a jackass. Just because I'm broke doesn't mean I'll put out for cash. I didn't know what to expect now, but I was second guessing my choice for the weekend.

On landing, a car greeted us. We were whisked to the resort, and before us sprawled a tropical oasis. The grounds were lush and gorgeous. A simple wooden sign signified we were at the resort, and an arrow pointed us down a winding driveway. It wasn't until we pulled up closer, that I realized how magnificent the place was. It wasn't massive, but it was dynamic and incredible. Glass, stone, plants, it all blended seamlessly with the surroundings. I wouldn't see the beach until later, and that was beautiful as well.

Getting out of the car, he told me the staff would take me to my quarters. I averted my eyes when the first gentleman came my way, asking to take my bag. "Right this way," he said. He wasn't wearing any clothing! Thankfully a few people lingering about were, but very little. A woman carrying towels had on black bikini bottoms, but appeared not to be wearing a shirt. I tried not to stare, and felt relief when I saw somebody walk by in white tennis shorts and a form fitting tank top. I didn't realize she was a guest. Most of the attendants wore next to nothing.

It's as if he could read my mind, "It's clothing optional, for both the clients and the staff."

I swallowed hard, at least I heard optional. That meant I'd be able to wear my uniform. "Mr. Golden mentioned something about a uniform?"

The man laughed, "If that's what you want to call it," he said.

My eyes went wide. What had I gotten myself into?

i like this book kept me interested in what happened next. Book two is better. gave it a four star cuz it was short but the realtionship developes fast and you get the plot of the story fast.

teasing, sexy & fun

This turned out to be a great story. At first I didn't like the female lead. She came off as pouty and grasping. But as the story progressed she developed nicely. The male lead was sexy and seductive and, turns out, wounded. He was just endearing and hot and I was rooting for a happy ending for the two of them by the end. I will definitely buy more books by this author!

Fantastic book!

I love the pics in this book. Ross Halfin does have a way with taking excellent photos of Def Leppard and this book I will highly recommend for every Def Leppard fan. What makes this book great is that it takes us on a historical journey of Def Leppard from the late 1970s to today. And it's wonderful to see the changes in the band. The commentaries are great! It's nice to hear stuff from the band, as well as a few others. But there is only one sad thing to say about this book - I wonder what Steve Clark would have said if he were able to make a commentary (he passed away back in 1991). But I love this book no matter what! So all you DL fans go out and get this one!

Excellent Collection

This is a big beautiful hardcover book that includes photos from the bands beginning right through to the present. It's exceptionally well priced, with color and black & white photos, band commentary, and a forward from Joe Elliott. What impresses me most is that you get a *lot* for the price, especially if you compare this book to the Sparkle Lounge photo books (available on the bands website/store). Ross Halfin has been photographing the band for years and he takes some great shots. The die-hards will recognize a lot these photos, but for me, it's great to have them all in one, well put together collection. This is a great visual history of a great band.

A must have for any Lepp fan!

This book is GREAT! You get alot for your money. A very well put together hard bound book at a reasonable price from Amazon.
The photos are amazing and really shows the progress of Def Leppard from the very early years up to the present.
I really like how some of the photos have a caption, from band members, explaining what's going on in the photo.
It felt like I was taking a trip down memory lane with the band.
Hands down the best Def Leppard book since 'Animal Instinct'.

Dr. Batmanghelidj's book, ABC of Asthma, Allergies and Lupus is a must read for those who practice medicine as well as for those who are suffering from chronic illnesses such as asthma, allergies and Lupus. Dr. Batmanghelidj's unique premise that dehydration is the underlying cause of asthma, allergies and Lupus is supported by sound research and clinical acumen. Dehydration may be the biggest health problem affecting the western world. Conventional medicine has failed to address this simple concept and the consequences to our health have been devastating. Dr. Batmanghelidj's first-hand accounts of his success in using water to cure many chronic conditions are compelling. He further supports his theory of dehydration as the underlying cause of asthma, allergies and Lupus with rational explanations why dehydration is the cause of many chronic illnesses. Asthma really helped

I have had a chronic cough for years, a form of cough-variant asthma. I also am on a salt-free, or low-salt diet. According to the author, a low or no-salt diet is a trigger for asthma symptoms,for your body can't hold in the water you need and becomes dehydrated. He explains as we become dehydrated we produce a large amount of histamine, which creates back pain,inflamed joints, allergies and asthma. He also explains how the lungs need water almost more than any other part of the body, and get tight and sensitive when the body lacks sufficient water. You also have to get off potassium, such as from orange juice and bananas for some people these are also triggers because they unbalance the salt/potassium balance.
To make a long story short, I started drinking the 8-10 glasses of water he recommends, with a pinch of salt (only use sea-salt) after every two glasses, and 1/2 t. a day of sea salt. Within 2 hours the tightness in my chest got better, and within one day I had completely stopped coughing. I kept thinking this was too simple to be true, but now, ten days later, I have almost complete relief from asthma symptoms.
This book really makes sense,and the information is presented well. Oh, and another benefit - all my lower back pain went away overnight, after months of pain, chiropractors, stretching, and everything else I could think of. I have recommended this book to everyone I know and have taken it to my doctor to read. Yes, it is hard to accept but it has relieved my asthma greatly..

After a lifetime of being told that salt is bad for me, I finally let go and started to use celtic sea salt liberally (as prescribed in the book). At first I only drank the water, but adding the salt completely maximized my progress. At 4 separate times this past weekend, I stopped my own asthma attacks at each onset. It took me about 7-10 minutes each time. It took alot for me not to use my inhaler, and to just give the water & salt a chance to work. I am extremely grateful and rather emotional about it, since I thought I would be on my proventil inhaler for the rest of my life. The inhaler has caused a number of side effects, and I am now planning a detox to remove the residue of this drug from my body, which I've been dependent on for more than 27 years. And I've only been doing this seriously for 2 weeks, (and getting better with each day). I thank "Dr.B" for giving me my health back (along with hundreds of others whose testimonials I've read on the [...] site). These are the same testimonials I was so compelled to read again and again, because I just could not believe and accept that something so simple could cure this disease that left me so weak and scared about the future of my health. Not to mention, very likely preventing other diseases I would be on the road towards. I suppose this is my own testimonial, because it really happened, and I hope that readers searching for an answer will forget their fears (that it won't work) and try it. Yes, it is still hard even for me to believe...even though it continues to work for me. But I do know for sure that I will never stop Dr.B's water & salt prescription. I will say this - if you want your health back, just take it back by taking action.

Good, but not as great as Sea of Poppies

Amitav, does try to bring together the various strands of stories and characters from the first two books in this final part of the Ibis trilogy. But the effort shows, and the book suffers as a result of this.

The first book, Sea of Poppies, reveled in the pidgin English, especially Mr. Doughty who ironically being the most casually racist was also the most steeped in the language and ways of the natives; and the highly personal stories set against a well researched backdrop of opium farming in India, and it's destruction of farming and families in rural east India.

However, Amitav went into a complete tangent in the second book with new characters, and not very engaging stories (botanist in the east is no comparison to a fallen and disgraced raja).

In this book, in order to bring the characters together, he has to resort to a lot of 'hand of god' coincidences and spends laborious pages explaining and connecting the dots. This results in the book losing the brilliant pidgin English from the first book. Further it becomes in places a war strategy book, of which it does a good enough job, but loses in bargain the human stories and the wonderful language that made the first book unique.

I wish Amitav had built on the small set of characters from the Sea of Poppies, rather than getting too ambitious.

A master storyteller

I re-read both of the earlier books - Sea of Poppies and River of smoke before beginning Flood of Fire. They were excellent (both 5 stars) and I had high hopes of Flood of Fire. All the characters in the first two books were fleshed out and totally believable - often funny especially my favorite Baboo Nob Kissin. The history of these opium wars was always of interest but I often found myself lost amongst all the new characters and longed for the focus on a handful of characters as in the two earlier books. I needed to know more about Deeti and Paulette in Mauritius. In the first books we knew how they felt as women in a man's world. They are only sketched in in this book. The interactions between Jachary and Mrs. Burnham Her insistence that he read all these tracts around his sex life I found to be quite strange -.her character having changed quite implausibly from my reading in the other books. Amitav Ghosh always holds my attention. His writing is wondeerfully expressive, whether the description of a battle or a back street in Calcutta, the boat people and glimpses of their life - fabulous moments in the book. He never fails to keep me engrossed in the story. But I felt that he was tying off loose ends too quickly.Easy for me to criticise! The man is a master storyteller.

I agree with several other reviewers that while it was interesting, some of the book was tedious, and the concluding chapters somewhat contrived. There is an overly long passage about an affair between Zachary and Mrs Burnham, with boring quotes from Victorian books, which is barely above a "bodice ripper", and could have been omitted entirely. And Mrs Burnham is quite unnecessary and could be omitted as well. It was as though Mr Ghosh, having done all that research, couldn't bear to discard any of it.

Threads come together at the end in a somewhat laborious way. I did learn a lot about the first Opium War. I think a good editor should have cut a lot of the book, and then been inserted a bit more about some of the characters, like Paulette, for instance. If she is brought back, then let's hear more about what she is doing, rather than the concocted misunderstanding between her and Zachary.
