A wonderful guide

I just returned from my first trip to Santa Fe. I solely depended upon the Lonely Planet (Santa Fe/Taos) guide to help me navigate/acquaint myself to Santa Fe and the surrounding areas. It was a wonderful resource and would recommend it highly to anyone traveling to Santa Fe, as I could not find my thing lacking in it. Oh, do visit the Chocolate Smith in Santa Fe. As the author noted, they have wonderful organic chocolate to please any chocolatophile (is that a word?).

Far from perfect

The reviews previous to mine only seem to address Santa Fe, and perhaps that portion of the book is more accurate. But I went to Taos and was bitterly disappointed by unfortunate inaccuracies. Inspirations doesn't serve sandwiches on the weekends, a detail the book left out. "Tiwa Kitchen" is actually "Tewa Kitchen", and though it wasn't the book's fault never opened on the day I wanted to go. Zen Ranch went out of business, and I'd really been looking forward to eating there. One restaurant I went to for the much ballyhooed huevos rancheros looked at me as though I had sprouted horns - not exactly a friendly establishment. It might have been nice to know about the nightly indian dance demonstrations at Kachina Lodge, which is the only regular demonstration performed by Pueblo indians in town, or Wired? Coffee House, which is actually a lot cooler than Cafe Tazza and offers free wi-fi. Overall, it felt as though the author had really rushed through, and perhaps some of the places she raves about were only nice to her because she told them that what she was writing.

Great guide

I am a frequent user of Lonely Planet books. Santa Fe & Taos is no different then the others, very insightful, very useful, and very easy to use. It gave great recommendations for restaurants, and for day trips, and I particularly enjoy the suggested 1 day, 2 day, 3 day... itineraries, based on the duration of your stay.
I highly recommend it.

Head and Shoulders above other Superhero Books!

First of all, when I saw that it's the X-men meets Count Dracula I laughed and was exremely skeptical about that mix. But let me tell you, the way Dracula is portrayed in this novel is very impressive. He's charming, witty, intimidating, cunning and powerful! His confidence resonates and clashes nicely with the X-men team. But most of all I want to point out, that Byers is a great storyteller. Most superhero books are just action and characters talking to each other, but Byers incorporates more passion into his storytelling. For example, Byers often "freezes time" and describes in great details what the characters are thinking during a battle, and I really appreciate that, it's so much more interesting than just reading about who attacked who, and what happened. This is a great read, if you like action with great description that won't seem rushed, I wouldn't miss it.

It isn't often that Dracula appears in a book and he isn't the main bad guy. That doesn't mean that he still isn't a threat. This is probably the best prose X-Men novel that I've had the pleasure to read. All the characters behave consistently with their comic appearances. Do yourself a favor and give it a shot.

I read the book and thought it was pretty good. I've read better but I've also read alot worse. All in all it was definatly worth reading. The main characters in the book are Nightcrawler, Colosus, Shadow Cat, Rouge, Storm, Cyclops, Pheniox, Wolverine, Dracula, and Belesco. If I left anyone out sorry it's been a while since I read the book. I you like the X-men I would deffinatly read this book.

if looking for romantic mystery this is a must read!!

well book three is such an outstanding follow up to the first two in this series. Another adventure for Jack and Tess during the planning of their wedding. Love reading about a couple that has such a chemistry about them.

Jenna Harte has made these characters and stories better with each book, Jack and Tess are becoming one of my new fav couples. also Jenna has become one of my new favourite authors, look forward to reading more stories from her!!

Such a refreshing series!

I read all three books in the Valentine series in two days and loved each one! The characters are well-drawn and, before long, they seem like old friends. The plots are pleasantly mysterious, with nice twists along the way. Especially I loved how Jenna Harte shows the vulnerability of both Tess and Jack. Often the male main character in a romantic mystery is so macho and self-assured that readers would rarely be aware of his fears or insecurities. It's really refreshing how the author lets us see the strengths AND weaknesses of Jack's character. . . as well as other characters, too. So glad I found this series, and can't wait until the fourth book comes out soon!

Enjoyable read for the third book in the series

Right up front I'll admit that I really enjoy the main characters so it was pretty much a given that this book - the third in the series - was already ahead of the game.
I think this took the story further. The characters were developed more which was fun. The situations they got themselves into were similar - but different - from the other books in the series so I wasn't disappointed with this story at all.
Did I enjoy this read? Yes, very much. But then, I'm a bit of a fan.
Would I recommend this book? Yes. You don't have to have read the other two books, but they may get more out of the characters if you have.
